Meet Marie Canning, Family Photographer & Videographer
A professional child wrangler- aka mama of boys. A once upon a time wanderer, and an absolute enthusiast for documenting real family life in its simple & raw beauty.
I can usually be found chasing one of my adventurous boys on a nature trail, hanging out (sleeping) on my yoga mat or dancing in the kitchen to offset some of the chaos that happens after 6pm when you have three boys 5 and under.
Photography has been my creative outlet for over 15 years. I have photographed hundreds of families during some of their most momentous occasions in life, as well as documented their everyday family on a regular weekday afternoon.
When I first started taking photographs it was with a Film Minolta Maxxum and my now husband, then best friend, was one of my original models.
I am a lover of nature and all things green, making it to trails in Halton Hills half the days of the week, as that is where I think and breathe best. Three call me Mama. I became a mom to three boys in the span of two years. (yes, twins)!
Some people know me as Ms. Canning, as I am also an elementary school teacher, who has taught in Wales, England and here in Canada. I have a deepening desire to teach abroad again in my life.
Before starting our family, my now husband and partner of 18 years and I lived and traveled abroad together. We created a home on three different continents, filling our adventurous hearts (and passports) before starting our family not far from where we grew up. Funny how life can take us full circle.
I have a secondary Photography business with my husband Matt @mattandmariephotography so when I am not documenting family stories, I am often snuggling little babies in their first weeks of life in the studio.

Yes, I understand well the beautiful chaos of family life. Welcoming three boys in less than two years, filled up our home, hearts (and car). We wouldn't change it for anything. We swapped travel backpacks for diapers bags and the jeep for a van (something I swore I never would do). The truth is for me, family is most important. The role of Mama is my grandest of adventures, and I love nothing more than my hattrick of boys.
